All Through the Night

It was not the typical evening; an explosive behavior took place preceded by the usual exchange of words and resulting in a night of restlessness. The next morning upon rising, the morning is filled with clouds and rain as if Mother Nature was upset and weeping. The routine would be the usual early morning exercising while listening to music. The tiredness of the body due to the lack of rest would dictate exercising to mellow calmer music instead of the usual upbeat rhythms. The body is moving becoming warmer and flexible and the music of a new tune begins to play. This song not heard in quite a long time brings some reference to the moment, the song ‘All Through the Night’ by Cyndi Lauper. I listen closely to the lyrics:

All through the night

I’ll be awake and I’ll be with you

All through the night

This precious time when time is new

Oh, all through the night today

Knowing that we feel the same without saying

We have no past, we won’t reach back

Keep with me forward all through the night

And once we start the meter clicks

And it goes running all through the night

Until it ends, there is no end

These words resonate through me and I begin to understand again his significance in my life and my significance in his. The body and mind are a little less tired and with the movement with the music, I place a smile on my face ready to carry on pushing forward and trying again. During this time the rain has stopped and the morning has progressed. Though the clouds still linger they are a reminder that there can be clouds without rain and the clouds eventually will float away so the sun may shine brightly once again.
