Celebrate Me Home

My son #2 is currently serving in the military and has done so for the past 7 years.  My partner served in the military for 22 years.

Per globalfirepower.com, at the end of 2014, there were 20,395,272 women and men serving in the military worldwide in 125 countries.

How many women and men are serving in the military in 2015 and how many of them will not be with their families for Christmas?

Let us not forget when we spend Christmas with family or family of choice; there are family members who are serving our countries.

Let us not forget when other countries are celebrating their religious holidays; there are family members who are serving their countries.

Let us not forget when holidays, birthdays, births, deaths are occurring; there are family members who are serving our countries.

These women and men are important and serve an important role for our countries, for us, for our families and for our lives.

This Christmas – celebrate when you are home – celebrate them home!

Families with active military wives, husbands, daughters, sons, nieces, nephews, no matter the relationship – these families are celebrating Christmas without their loved ones.

Celebrate when you are home with your family or family of choice – celebrate them home.

While we are eating, visiting, exchanging gifts and listening to music of the season – celebrate them home.

And as these active military women and men are missing Christmas with their families and families of choice, they may be thinking – celebrate me home.

Some lyrics from Kenny Logan’s song ‘Celebrate Me Home’ –

Please, celebrate me home,

Give me a number,

Please, celebrate me home

Play me one more song,

That I’ll always remember,

I can recall,

Whenever I find myself too all alone,

I can make believe I’ve never gone,

I never know where I belong,

Sing me home.
