Room 101

Thank you Catherine over at Atypical 60 for nominating me for the Room 101 Award.  Fellow bloggers if you have not had the opportunity to read Catherine’s posts, please do so, her blog is full of fun, humor and educational interesting facts.  Seriously, she is amazing!

Okay so the Room 101 Award allows me to banish 5 things, people, events, well basically anything I don’t like into a room full of other exiles.  I in no way can outdo Catherine’s list, but I will give it a try.

Room 101

The five I banish to Room 101 is –

#1 Mayonnaise – seriously I cannot stand mayonnaise and would rather choke on cactus needles while getting my toenails pulled with needle nose pliers.

For you folks who like mayonnaise and I know there are lots of cooks out there; here is some history for you per Hellmann’s

Mayonnaise is said to be the invention of the French chef of the Duke de Richelieu in 1756. While the Duke was defeating the British at Port Mahon, his chef was creating a victory feast that included a sauce made of cream and eggs. When the chef realized that there was no cream in the kitchen, he improvised, substituting olive oil for the cream. A new culinary masterpiece was born, and the chef named it “Mahonnaise” in honor of the Duke’s victory.

#2 Going to the dentist – seriously I cannot stand going to the dentist.  Nothing against dentist, but I dislike other people putting their fingers in my mouth.  And then while they have their fingers in my mouth they talk to me and ask me questions, expecting me to answer.

Check out this funny video –

#3 Sitting in traffic – seriously I cannot stand sitting in traffic.  When I was younger I could do it and be fine, but now that I am older, I cannot stand sitting in traffic.

If you like sitting in traffic this image is for you –

#4 Being cold – seriously I cannot stand being cold.  I live in the southern US and today it is cloudy and 51 degrees, this is too cold for me.

If you like cold weather, this is for you –

#5 Having cancer – seriously I hate having cancer.  It scares me and I wish there was no such thing as cancer.  I have known people who have died from cancer.

For you folks who have had cancer or know someone that has had cancer, let us find a way to –

Here are my 5 nominations –

Athena over at Divorce With Me

Turtle over at The Turtle Way

Yinglan over at This is Another Story

Gary over at skipah’s Realm

  1. That was very funny, Terry! I quite like going to the dentist and insisted on being awake for the molar removal. He almost had to sit on my chest to yank the thing out. Then the drill malfunctioned and he burnt my mouth and his hand…you will never go the dentist again!
As for the last one, more people die of heart disease, and of course we know people who die of cancer. You are going to recover and live a happy life (with nicer breath because you have stopped smoking)! Love you!

    • I just hate having to leave my mouth open for so long and having the tools and fingers and anything else in there. And yes, the heart disease is certainly important. I know I will be fine, I just had to find 5 things to banish and honestly was having a difficult time with the list – so that is why cancer was in there. Thanks, hope your weekend is wonderful! 🙂

  2. That dentist video brought back memories….well sort of. They’re fuzzy. When I had my wisdom teeth removed (one at a freakin’ time…they weren’t ‘bad’ enough all at once, and there was room on my jaw for them, so they left ’em in) … hubby drove me. I had conscious sedation, which I’d never heard of prior to that and man, I admit I felt FINE. But I >probably< acted as dopey as that kid in the video, hubby said I was laughing and singing all the way home. I don't remember…if that's akin to being drunk? Well I'm glad I never did THAT..

    • I guess it could be like being drunk – not sure, too bad the hubby did not have a video camera back then – it would be a good laugh today! Thanks for reading – hope your Saturday is going well for you! 🙂

  3. Congratulations on your nomination and on a great post 🙂
I do agree with 4 of your 5 . I don’t dislike mayo , I just don’t like it slathered on everything and especially not the white gooey stuff you get from jars . I like my mom’s real mayonnaise which she makes from scratch with real eggs and very good olive oil , turning it into a bright yellow almost solid sauce that we use on tuna salad and other summer salads 😉
Thank you for nominating the turtle , she is still thinking about her 5 “to banish” for Catherine’s nomination , and then she will see if she can come up with five more things/people/anything to send to Room 101 (it’s going to get crowded in there).
    Turtle Hugs 🙂

  4. A fellow Mayo-phobic. We are rare and living most of my life in France and now being in the US is frankly scary – it’s EVERYWHERE. Congratulations by the way – and what a great idea for an award. My husband and I play Room 101 on long journeys – so far neither he nor I has opted to put the other in the room 🙂

  5. That’s funny spearfruit! A creative award! I happen to like mayo, but my husband does not, so I have first hand experience. (He also doesn’t like bacon, which I’ll never understand.) I too hate cancer… Yes, let’s find a cure!
