A year ago this month in my post ‘Christmas Movies‘, I wrote the following –
Okay, I admit it – I am a sucker for those made for TV Christmas movies!
Do you know what I am referring to?
The Lifetime Channel Christmas movies –
Holiday Switch, Holiday Baggage, Christmas on Chestnut Street, A Very Married Christmas, Nothing Like The Holidays, All She Wants For Christmas, Holly’s Holiday, Home By Christmas, and the list goes on.
The Hallmark Channel Christmas movies –
A Royal Christmas, The Christmas Ornament, Moonlight And Mistletoe, A Coral Christmas, Love’s Christmas Journey, Naughty Or Nice, The National Tree, and the list goes on.

In today’s post, I write the following –
Okay, I admit it – I am still a sucker for those made for TV Christmas movies!
As I did last year, I am watching those made for TV Christmas movies again this year!
I can’t help it, I must watch these movies this time of year and started watching them before Halloween. I watch several each week including the following –
My Christmas Dream, The Mistletoe Promise, Christmas Cookies, A December Bride, Broadcasting Christmas, Love You Like Christmas, My Christmas Love, and the list goes on.

huffingtonpost.com article 11 Reasons to Watch Hallmark Christmas Movies includes the following –
I wanted something sweet when I have given up sweets. Can one get cavities from watching TV?
I wanted romance. I have written a few things down for my husband that seem to work in these movies. Like one must go ice skating and fall down. No problem there. Apparently lying about your identity is also very romantic. I’ve tried to tell my husband I’m Nigella Lawson, but no spectacular gifts seem to be arriving addressed to “Nigella.”
I wanted to see the real meaning of Christmas. I do love how these movies just make me think everyone loves each other. Really. You just have to wait until Christmas.
I wanted to feel connected to humanity. At least, I’d like to be connected to Hallmark Humanity. These are nice people. They give you cookies and hot cocoa and show up at your house at all hours of the day and night to make sure you’re okay.
I wanted to uncomplicate life. Who wouldn’t want to live in a Hallmark town? You either work in a coffee shop, a gift shop, play Santa or get the promotion of your dreams. And every town has a cute skating rink and Christmas carolers.

The ones I watch are A Season For Miracles, Home By Christmas, A Very Merry Mix-up, The Christmas Shoes and Finding John Christmas. On regular television, I always have to watch Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman. I don’t watch them as much as I used to because I don’t celebrate Christmas anymore, but I’ll at least take a peek.
Christmas day….for sure, I’ll have A Christmas Story on….all day. 🙂

Oh I use to watch Rudolph and Frosty – but I have not seen them in years. There are so many good movies out there for this time of year. And taking a peek is a good thing – thanks Laurel.

I like those movies also, I am a sentimental guy I suppose. I also am one who makes mistakes, instead of Spearfruit I included Gary when I mentioned you in a recent post this week. Sometimes I think I only open my mouth to change my feet. Sorry my friend.

Oh hell yeah! I love the old Christmas movies. We don’t have television any more, but I got a TON of DVDs. My favs are It’s a Wonderful Life…I still think James Stewart’s rampage in front of his wife and kids is one the most dramatic scenes in all of film making. I tear up every time I see it. I LOVE The Bishops Wife with Cary Grant. And of course I have to watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas…hell I cry in that one too! I’m such a wimp, haw! But give me a great Christmas movie, some hot chocolate and a plate of cookies…oh, I’m ready now for some serious sentiment.
Thanks Spear. Good to know you’re a kindred Christmas spirit. I’m definitely gonna look up some of your suggestions.

My favorite Christmas movie of all time is “All Mine to Give” from 1957, starring Cameron Mitchell and Glynis Johns. It has me in tears each and every time I watch it. This movie is definitely not cheesy.

Now I KNOW we are twins separated at birth … I’ve tried to fool my husband that I’m Nigella too – he didn’t buy it, but she is so wonderful – I aspire! And I also love Christmas movies from the classic It’s a Wonderful Life, through to the flimsy and frou-frou. Happy viewing, my friend – I’m in the seat next to you!

Yes, we will sit together and watch for hours and hours – they never get old. It has been awhile since I have seen It’s a Wonderful Life – it is usually on TV a little closer to Christmas. I will keep my eye opened for it. I guess you are getting ready for the big trip tomorrow? 🙂

I am …. I’m staring at my bags and realising that no matter how much Alice in Wonderland magic potion I sprinkle on my things there is NO WAY they are all getting in. But my Granny would have said that leaving things behind means you are coming back so I’m bright and breezy about it. Less bright and breezy about the fact that I have to leave The Bean for 10 days but she needs to look after my husband which I am sure will mean she is doubly spoiled for missing me! 🙂

I must check out some of these movies! I have to admit I do enjoy a good, down to earth, heartwarming movie, and at Christmas time they are the best. They are like ‘feel good’ family movies, no violence or swearing. I must check out the channels tonight and see what is for what !!!
Enjoy your movies my friend. Hope you have a great day further. 🙂 x

I had wondered why there were so many of those. I see they have an audience and I’m glad that you find joy and entertainment in them. I’ve watched one or two, but I really don’t care for them, or maybe if I’m totally honest, I’m jealous. I never met anyone that was as hunky/sensitive (the combination seems to be oxymoronic almost) in real life and maybe I’m sorry for that. Of course, now I’ve met YOU (who is hunky and very sensitive) and so obviously those sorts of men are out there. Enjoy the movies sweetie and Happy Holidays – or at my house? Merry Christmas! 😀

One of my all-time favorite, cheesy Christmas movies is a made-for-TV one, from VH1: “A Diva’s Christmas Carol.” It stars Vanessa Williams, and it is AMAZING. I kind of want to watch it right now!

I love, LOVE the Hallmark channel. You think their Christmas movies are the best (yes they are), just wait till you see others. The guy who buys an antique desk, finds a letter, travels back in time… Sounds corny, but it is not. So, bring on those Christmas movies, Hallmark.

Terry, I’m finding each treatment follows the same path and in my case it’s bone pain and stomach problems. Seems to take five days or so and I start to feel better. And I usually have a little pity party on day three or so… not proud, but then I can deal again! I know you’re done with chemo or was it immunotherapy you had? What’s next for you?

She passed almost exactly two years ago but I know each Christmas that comes around going forward I’ll smile when ads start appearing for all these movies. Hope your weekend is a good one Terry.
