Yellow: the five percent

I like yellow, it is my favorite color.

Wikipedia.org has the following –

Yellow is the color of ripe lemons, sunflowers, and gold. It is between green and orange in the visible spectrum, and a primary color in subtractive color, used in color printing. According to surveys in Europe, Canada, and the United States, yellow is the color people most often associate with amusement, gentleness, and spontaneity, but also with duplicity, envy, jealousy, avarice, and, in the U.S., with cowardice. In Iran it has connotations of pallor/sickness, but also wisdom and connection.  It plays an important role in Asian culture, particularly in China, where it is seen as the color of happiness, glory, wisdom, harmony, and culture.

Yellow is a location-based social search mobile app that allows users to find others to share their Snapchat and Instagram usernames. It also allows users to chat with one another in the app.

Who knew there was an app for that?

And did you know the group Coldplay has a song called Yellow?

There is an interesting article on psychologytoday.com titled  Why We Prefer Certain Colors that has interesting information about why we have a color preference and how it influences our lives.  If you are interested in reading, click the above article link.

Did I mention, I like yellow?

From bustle.com –

The most popular color in the world is blue, and it’s also the most popular color for men, everywhere in the world, to wear. (Women, on the other hand, mostly prefer wearing black.) Statistically, yellow isn’t preferred by many, with only five percent of people claiming it as their most favorite color, and apparently, as people get older, they start to shun orange.

Okay, I am in the five percent when it comes to preferring yellow.

I always mention my favorite color to Jodi over at THE CREATIVE LIFE IN BETWEEN because she has wonderful watercolors that have the color yellow.

Did I mention, I really like the color yellow?

A year ago, I published a video post ‘it’s a “Jodi”’, where I unwrapped a package.  The package was sent from Jodi; she sent me a watercolor that I really liked.  The water color is a red boat, but it also has my favorite color.

Did you know, I really, really like yellow – it is my favorite color.

Any guess my favorite fruit?  (hint: it starts with a ‘B’ and yes, it is yellow)

And if you have never heard Coldplay’s song “Yellow” –

  3. My color preference has changed over the years. I enjoyed yellow when my kids were little…but I seldom wore it. I’m in that majority that wears blue and black. But that Coldplay song is one of my favorites ! Have a yellow-filled day, Terry.

  4. Yellow is my youngest daughters’ favorite color. My brain has been a little addled lately and I was trying to think of what yellow fruit began with a B. I was thinking “blemon?” LOLOL. I figured it out….like I said, my mind is in a dark place right now.
Hugs to you and Gary. 🙂

  6. Yellow isn’t my favorite color (I mean, pink exists, so sorry every other color), but it’s top three! How can you not like a color that reminds everyone of sunshine and flowers? I even had yellow bridesmaid dresses for our wedding – so clearly, I like it!

  7. I like Coldplay’s “Yellow,” lemons and sunshine (which I suppose is yellow more than anything else). Drove by some yellow daffodils this morning which contrasted nicely with the early morning darkness. Another sign of spring…which will eventually get here. I think. Have a great day Terry.

  8. Thank you for the song, Terry! My favorite color is red, but yellow is a close second – one of the reasons I love sunny Florida. I think “The Yellow Submarine” was one of the first songs I mastered when I learned to play guitar.
I hope your day is filled with music and bright Florida sunshine!

  9. Yellow is a beautiful color! I also like orange…the color of my California Poppies…they are so saturated with that color I think it is stunning. As far as my favorite colors go…pinks, lavenders, all shades and blues…so many different shades of that color and along with the greens! 🙂

  10. That is interesting that yellow is your favourite colour. I know a fair bit about colour preferences from my research for the use of people’s favourites when I do website designs. I know from a site design perspective using yellow is usually frowned upon. So, unfortunately, you’ll probably never find a yellow website! Unless of course, you create one yourself and try it out! lol

    • Yes, I understand the appearance of yellow in ads and other objects that it is a color that does not work well. But, then we have that sun, and yellow flowers and other objects it is a perfect color for. Thanks Amanda, always appreciate you catching up. 🙂

  11. It´s a wonderful color! And as you say it reminds us all of summer 🙂 The first flowers in spring are mostly yellow in color and I feel it is thus related to giving hope. I never liked to wear it when I was a kid because I feared it would attract bees and other insects though! Now that I´m older I know how silly that was and have added the color to my wardrobe again 😉 Thank you for this lovely post, Terry!
