Carnival

Recently the MacDill Air Force Base had a carnival with free rides.  I went only on two of the rides because I easily get motion sickness and plus with my pain, it was not a good idea to ride some of the faster ones.  But Gary did; he went on many of them.

In this video, all the red roof buildings are on the MacDill Air Force Base.  There is much more to the Air Force Base than what this video displays; it is a large base.  Later in the video you see the skyline of Tampa in the distance and smoke.  The smoke is from one of the many wildfires that have been recently occurring here in Florida.

I hope you enjoy the video –

  1. This is great. Seems like you really had some fun, even with that elephant just about over your head 🙂 I didn’t realize how large the Air Force Base is ! Lovely video my friend. Have a good day. 🙂

  2. In this part of France the slang term for a fun fair is ‘Le vog’ so you just made a vlog for your blog about a vog! It looked such fun and even I who am a big scaredy cat about rides would have enjoyed the flying elephants and the merrygoround. I’m glad you joined in as much as you felt able to and I’m glad Gary was a vog-hog going on lots. 🎠🎡🎢😀😁😃

  3. I tried to comment on my computer and the “L” and “R” wouldn’t show up.
I didn’t want you to think I had been nipping the brewskies!
Isn’t it wonderful to feel like a child again?
I always wanted to go to the circus when it came around but never got to. Now, I’m afraid I’d pee in my pants on one of those rides! LOL
I’m so glad you and your Gary had a good time! Hugs to you both. 😘😘

    • I don’t ride most of these because I just get motion sickness and feel horrible. But Gary can handle them all though he did get dizzy on a few of them. I understand about letters not showing up from the computer, many times my ‘i’ will not display. Thanks Laurel. 🙂

  4. So glad you had fun, but I couldn’t bring myself to watch the video – anything to do with roundabouts, big dippers, turning wheels, I feel sick at the thought, I can’t even watch other people do it 😳

    • I understand Chris, I have no problems watching most of them, but I will say there was that I did not include in the video that would make my head dizzy, so I left it out. Thanks for stopping by, hope you are doing well. 🙂

  5. Perfect song for this fun video, since it did bring back memories of small carnivals like this one that I loved as a child. There were 5 kids in my family and the carnivals were not free, so my mother would purchase a strip of tickets and divide them among the five of us to be spent as we liked until they were gone – rides, treats, games – whatever.

I never liked being scared (my siblings found it thrilling), so I rode the tamer rides like the merry-go-round, and practically made myself sick on cotton candy as I stood on the ground laughing as my siblings screamed their little heads off.

How wonderful of MacDill AFB to sponsor the rides – and of you to video Gary as he revisited his own childhood. Thanks so much for sharing with us – and for posting to the Senior Salon where I was sure not to miss it.

    • Thank you very much for stopping by. There are many families on the MacDill AFB and they have many activities for them that are free. As a child, I really never liked the fast rides, I always have had motion sickness, so many of these were not on my list. The slower ones are fine. Thanks again, have a happy day. 🙂

  6. I am so glad to hear that you managed to get out on such a fun outing despite your pain. It lifts the spirits. Ireland has seen a lot of bog fires too but we have rain forecast soon so thankfully they should end. I was caught amidst one in 2003 and it was incredibly frightening. I am thankful that the fire brigade were able to put it out before my home went up in flames…

  7. Such a beautiful day! The air base looks wonderful, Terry and it´s so lovely that you´re being provided with such a fun looking fair! There´s a fair going on in my neighborhood too, but like you, my stomach can´t handle the rough rides 😉 It´s the Ferris wheel for me and some candy 🙂 So glad you had a lovely time! Hugs&sunshine! 🙂
