I have mentioned in several previous posts I had a recent consultation appointment with a Radiation Oncologist at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. M. indicates receiving radiation would be a benefit for me prior to the next set of treatments to take place.
What does $3.50 have to do with my health and cancer treatments? Nothing.
Except, following the visit with my Radiation Oncologist Dr. M., Gary and I needed to make a stop by a bank.

The bank’s location was in a small shopping plaza and I spotted a Gigi’s Cupcakes shop. I have never had a Gigi cupcake but had heard they were delicious; I also knew they were most likely expensive as well.
Let me provide you some information. Gary and I are both retired and we can survive the rest of our lives without the worry of money. Well Gary being a former comptroller and numbers guy, he counts his pennies. And that is okay to a certain point. Over the years, I have learned from him and he has learned from me when comes to matters of money. But, recent events, specifically my health situation has me changing a little bit when it comes to spending money.
There would have been a time, I would not have paid $3.50 for one cupcake, why would I, when I can get them cheaper at the local grocery store.

Life is short and on that particular day upon the completion of my appointment with Dr. M., for the first time in a long time I felt a sense of hope; something good in the future that I could look forward to.
I have lost 38lbs. in the last 4 months and I have no idea how long I will be here on this earth. I might be here for a short couple of years or I may be for another 40+ years. Because of my health situation and my weight loss and a day where I felt a little celebration was due – I spent $3.50 on one cupcake.
Naturally I gobbled it up without taking a picture of the actual cupcake, I remember it had lots of chocolate, chocolate cake with chocolate icing and chocolate sprinkles on top. I could not resist the temptation, it was eaten quickly; though I did take a picture of the box it was in.
My health situation has me changing a little bit when it comes to spending money. Every once in a while, I spend a little extra money on me and splurge occasionally.
Thank you, Gigi’s Cupcakes, for the excellent cupcake that day, for me it was worth every penny – all 3 hundred and 50 of them.
Sometimes you just need a little boost, Terry. Sounds like it was well worth it x

I would’ve dearly loved to see a photo of smiling you with that cupcake, but I am so glad you enjoyed this little treat!
Is the weather as miserable on your coast as it is on ours? Chocolate makes it better, doesn’t it?

Oh my Lucy! I was thinking about you today. I had to go get a scan at the hospital and when I got there, it was taking them forever. Finally, they came out and apologized for the delay. They had never had anybody “that tiny” before and had to call the manufacturer to find out how to calculate it.
SO…on the way home I stopped at the grocery store and of course all the canned goods started falling off the shelves, the ice cream melted and the beer started boiling. They thought it was the end of the world. I go to a grocery store maybe twice a year…LOL
Anyway, the first thing I saw was those strawberry shortcake cup thingies and I was on the hunt for strawberries and whipped cream. ( not that fake shit…the real cream.)
I thought “this is what Terry needs…THIS will put some meat on those bones!”
So, I am going to have one for me and one for you! How’s that?
Hugs to you and Gary. 😘😘

Oh how happy that makes me! I am so glad you gobbled that cupcake in one giant gollollop … life IS to short to stint when there is a moment to feel like celebrating. And if there is a single man on this planet in need of the moment to celebrate with a delicious chocolatey delight, that man is you, Terry. $3.50 very well spent and that cupcake was not sacrificed in vain! I hope to hear that you have revisited Gigi’s palace of temptation very soon. 😊

I’m definitely steering a course to Gigi’s with you. As it turns out cupcakes are a favourite weakness and Gigi is one of my favourite films of all time – I had SUCH a crush on Louis Jourdain! Add in spending time with my favourite blogger and it makes for rather an irresistible idea!

I’m glad your experience with Gigi was wonderful! There is a ‘gourmet’ cupcake shop up in this small town, and I had heard they were good (not great, no raves about them, but good), so I stopped one day to get ONE. $3.50 is plenty for a cupcake. I ran into a grumpy counter helper who insisted that she would not sell me one, but only at least half dozen. I agreed to buy four (I didn’t need four, I didn’t eat four…but man! She needs to not work the counter)…I got home and had the one with chocolate and Ughh. The frosting tasted like lard. Due to that awful taste and the pressure (and my diabetes), I tossed the rest. I won’t go back either. Maybe they were having an off day, but goodness. I’m glad Gigi lived up to her name! 😀

You make me smile….this last weekend my cousin and I were at the opening of the newest little specialty shop serving scones, donuts and several expensive coffee drinks…I will admit I paid $21 dollars for 6 donuts…LOL the maple/bacon was 4.25 LOL I will never go back, but the brioche donuts were excellent, but not worth the $$ LOL I am so happy that you enjoyed you cupcake, isn’t nice when something so simply decadent can help fill that touch of love and need we all need…LOL I on the other hand was only filly the tummy….LOL I did share them with 6 people, we cut them into quarters…LOL

Yes, I too hope you have much to celebrate in the future. Things may not have gone as planned, but I hope what is ahead is filled with wonderful surprises for both you and Gary! I don’t know what happened with me. Going to therapy has proven harder than I had expected. I do have a wonderful therapist and I trust her, but it does take me to my limits of vulnerability. And it is exhausting and time consuming. I am moving in the right direction though! Thank you Terry!
