Sphere

My category ‘Pictures & Stories’ are posts with me writing a fictional, creative short story about a picture.

Sphere

Sphere –

It was a hot summer’s day, I think sometime in June.  And I walking along and alone to where no one had been to before.

As I was in progress on my expedition, there in front of me it stood.  What a great wonder it was – I was paralyzed in my tracks.

Was it real or an image from my imagination?  The size of it alone was astonishing.

I stood there in amazement and then the pulling began.  What was taking place?

Was this to be the end of me?  And why me?

The pulling was harsh and I had no control and therefore the wonder it was; was now a threat.

The nearer it pulled me in the less tired I felt and some type of comfort took over.

What was this that was taking place?

The sphere kept the pulling, soon followed by the relief.

  1. I enjoyed the narrative. I liked the mystery of it–the seemingly sci-fi-feel it had. In short it made me want to read more! That’s definitely the sign of a good writer. 🙂

Hope your day is a great one!

  2. Brilliant Terry! This has definitely a science fiction feel to it and I love it! You really should consider writing a novel, you know? You’ve got a wonderful voice and tell things so beautifully! Always keeping your readers in their toes and choosing wonderful, interesting and imaginative angles from which you spool your stories! 😄

      • You´re so welcome, Terry 🙂
And that´s exactly what I did again 😉 I really have to learn to hold back… not easy when you miss your friends and want to know how they´re doing… Hope you´re well and that the nerve block procedure did work!! Happy Day my dear friend! 🙂

  3. This has the feel of a 50’s sci-fi B movie. And that is a huge compliment, btw because I am a bit of a slave to the genre. Your fiction writing goes from strength to strength 🤗

  4. I enjoyed reading this short story. I felt that it was a kind of wishful thinking as a way to rid your pain. Hypnosis is a tool that could be useful. Your short stories would be a nice gift for your, ” still talks to you, son.” My father had a notebook we found when he was dying and it was full of stories that were focused on memories he had starting at the age of four. Although there are just a few stories written my brother remembered all the people dad talked about. I only remembered a couple places he talked about. I have that notebook and his ashes and I cherish the peace of mind it brings to me. You are great at writing and I would love reading more.
