Old Friends Reunited

Hey All,

Had an opportunity last week to visit with an old friend of mine from the Army.  Bob and I were stationed together in The Republic of Panama back in the late 80’s/early 90’s.  In fact at that time I was the Commander of a UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter unit in charge of all aeromedical evacuation operations during “Operation Just Cause”.  During that military operatione the U.S. Military successfully ousted Manuel Noriega, the corrupt dictator from power and as a result we ultimately helped to restore democracy in that country.  Bob was one of my senior warrant officers during that time and was also one of my instructor pilots. In addition to aeromedical support during “Operation Just Cause,” my unit was also primarily responsible for all aeromedical rescue missions (both military and civilian) throughout the Republic of Panama and also along the borders of Costa Rica and Columbia.  I hadn’t seen Bob for about 27 years.  Found out recently that Bob has actually been living with his wife in Tampa for the past 3 or 4 years. So we decided to meet for a little lunch last week and to talk about old times.  It’s always so nice to rekindle old friendships!  Luv Garyimg_0315199319497.jpg

    • Thanks Lynne. This is good for me to rekindle old friendships. It helps to keep me going, because I do have my moments thinking about Terry and all he had to go through only to end up leaving this earth at way too young an age. Still doesn’t seem possible.

  1. It’s great that you guys were able to reconnect! It’s amazing how great it is to see someone for the first time in a long time – even after many years, those connections that existed at one time are still there and rekindled so easily.

  2. Lovely photo 😊 I met with someone yesterday whom I hadn’t seen in 18 years although we have had a connection through family members. It was like those 18 years hadn’t existed. She held my hand the entire time, just like the first time we met when I was the one who was bedridden. I’m so glad you had this opportunity to talk about an important time in your lives that only a colleague would understand. 💜
