You might be wondering why I am writing a post about Gary Sinise.  Well, Gary Sinise also has a band called the Lt. Dan Band.  The MacDill Air Force Base had a free concert this past Saturday night in one of the airplane hangars and guess who was playing?  Yep, Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band.

The evening weather was perfect and my Gary and I had a wonderful time listening to some great music from Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band.

I wanted to share several pictures and a small video clip.

Caregiver

In my post ‘Stars of Life‘, I wrote the following –

Interesting, many stars in the sky; we wish upon them, we watch them and dream – we dream about stars – the stars in the sky.

But stars are not just in the sky.

I have stars in my life – not just the ones in the skies – no, I have other stars in my life.

In my life, the stars are my mom & my spouse.  You know how important my mom is to me; I have written many posts about her.  My spouse, Gary is important also and I have written posts about him.

In today’s post, I write the following –

Gary and I were married December of last year by a judge in a courtroom of a county government office.  No witness except the judge, no guests, no cake and a just a couple of pictures.  During our ceremony, our vows that were exchanged to one another were similar to the traditional Roman Catholic vows –

I, Gary, take you, Terry, to be my husband,

I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health.

I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.

Terry, take this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

These words I was taking very seriously, while Gary on the other hand was giggling!  Really Gary, you are giggling during the vows?

Okay, so this star in my life, unknown to him that day we were married, is now a caregiver.  I might add he is an excellent caregiver.

Those vows spoken “I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health.”

The bad times are here, the sickness is here, and those words spoken back in December, between the giggles, they were taken very seriously.

My caregiver is strong, smart, detailed and always ahead of the game.  He keeps me motivated and keeps me taking my medications when I should be taking them.  He prepares my meals, he cleans the 5th wheel, he takes me to my appointments, he makes sure I stay on track.

What more could I ask for?  Nothing, this star of mine, my caregiver, is everything to me.

My husband by law, my partner for life, my star, my caregiver – I respond with the following –

I know I am a horrible patient and I complain and lose my temper and throw tantrums.  I am often grumpy and want to be left alone to soak in my uncertainties.

But remember, I took those vows also –

I will love you all the days of my life.

I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, sickness and in health.

I am thankful for you my caregiver; I am grateful for you Gary.

Stars of Life

science.nasa.gov has the following –

Stars are the most widely recognized astronomical objects, and represent the most fundamental building blocks of galaxies. The age, distribution, and composition of the stars in a galaxy trace the history, dynamics, and evolution of that galaxy. Moreover, stars are responsible for the manufacture and distribution of heavy elements such as carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen, and their characteristics are intimately tied to the characteristics of the planetary systems that may coalesce about them. Consequently, the study of the birth, life, and death of stars is central to the field of astronomy.

Interesting, many stars in the sky; we wish upon them, we watch them and dream – we dream about stars – the stars in the sky.

But stars are not just in the sky.

In my life, the stars are my mom & my spouse.  You know how important my mom is to me; I have written many posts about her.  My spouse, Gary is important also and I have written posts about him.

Sure, there are other important people in my life; my dad, my siblings, my sons and others.  They all have significant roles and relationships that make me whole and bring completeness to me and my life.  But the stars in my life, mom and Gary – they are my building blocks, my source of strength, reasons to move forward and better myself.

I think of my life as a galaxy, and those stars of mine, in my galaxy, they brighten my darkest nights and when I think about them, the twinkle of hope resonates.

In my post ‘Thanks Mom!‘, I concluded with the following –

My mom may not have always understood me and my actions; but she has always supported me.  She has never questioned my choices in life even when those choices were bad ones and she has always been there to help pick me up so I can continue to move forward.  Today a man in his middle 50s, I call mom often to check in and we catch up on our lives.  She is always there listening to me when I talk about me and my life and still supports me and still comforts me and still keeps me on track.  Thanks Mom!

Men are what their mothers made them. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

In my post ‘My Life Partner Does!‘, I concluded with the following –

So, my hopes are for people who have a life partner in their life, they have more than just the Wikipedia definition of a life partner.  My hope is your life partner rescues you, advices you, encourages and motivates you – My hope is your life partner brings pleasure and fun in your life.  My Life Partner Does!

No soy Rickey

My category ‘Pictures & Stories’ are posts with me writing a fictional, creative short story about a picture.

I am not Ricky

No soy Rickey –

It was before the time of him, the one that many thought was the other.  On the street, crowds would surround the one and the response would be “es él”.  The response would be “No, no!”, and the one would be swiftly taken and moved away.  The other sites and locations would always be the same for the one that many thought was the other.  And the usual “es Rickey” would be shouted and followed by the common response “I am not Rickey.”  Did they not understand the time was not right, his time had already passed and how could he be young again to be there again at that age?

A decade has passed, he was older, but the one was younger and it could not be him, the one.  Still the crowd grew and shouted “Sabemos que es usted!”  The one’s response firmly was “no, no se no es él, soy yo.”

But wait, why was the one’s response in Spanish and not English?  Could it be, that he the one was the other?  No, no podía ser!

The End

My category ‘Pictures & Stories’ are posts with me writing a fictional, creative short story about a picture.

The End –

As the storyline proceeds, there are no longer mysteries.  Their lives once again had crossed and this time these lives will come together as one.  For the mysterious ones would be revealed to all who watched and listened to the pentagonal showings.  Their lives will continue with love as the foundation and through turmoil & tribulations they will succeed in creating a life for those that would follow.  These 2 mysterious ones whose lives were separate are now one; always bonded and never to be broken.

The End

A word from Terry –

These pictures are Gary’s parents taken at different times in their lives.

Gary’s father is now gone from this world, and I only had the opportunity to be in his company twice.  From the memories of Gary and his family and the short time I knew him; he was an extremely patient, funny and easy-going man.  A son, a brother, a husband, a father, a respected man.  He is missed and now a memory, but he is not forgotten.

Gary’s mother is currently living with her youngest child.  She is 93 and suffers from Dementia.  If you have time, please read these post I wrote about her:  ‘My Mother In-Law Teacher‘, ‘…hold back the tears in my eyes‘, ‘Dementia: It’s Been A Long Road‘, ‘My Mother In-Law’s Library‘.

Is he a Mirage?  Or what about the secret agent?  The dark figure, the touch on her shoulder, his response; what is their story?  Is this a movie?  Could he be Zorro?  Or what about the hair stylist?  Maybe he is her father!  Or maybe, hopefully he is her long lost lover.

The next title is displayed and the beginning of the next scene appears with him walking away in the shadows of the damp dim light.  But what about her?  What was left with her that will be a reminder of him and his presence?  Will she continue to wander in sadness of this recent encounter and will their story continue?  But the reunion was short lived and his leaving was again quick and abrupt.  The sadness of their story will continue as he moves mysteriously in the future to another story and another time.

She on the other hand will move on to the next shot, the clap of the cut action is heard and her scene is waiting for the future reel.  But he is gone and the future is still unknown, but the past has been written and the present time reveals him, the mysterious one departing and her, yet to make her entrance out of the shadows.

The Film Noir Star –

Is he a Casanova?  Those eyes, that mustache, the lips; do they tell the story of who this guy really is?  What about a spy?  Could he be a secret agent?  Who is this mysterious man?

It was a rainy day, late afternoon and World War II was taking place in a land far, far away.  The month is April, and the sky is crying the tears of the lost ones that are scattered amongst the rubble of Europe.  The location is locked down from intruders and the war torn buildings some blazing fire are hazed with the fierce rain and wind.  The summoned crowd of spectators are hurried in their stride with their umbrellas opened to protect them from the heavy rain.

The afternoon of storms has brought those out that must partake in the event, including her.  But she is withdrawn and hidden within the crowd not appearing to be noticed by those around her.  Her life, her day are one of sadness as she wanders in the rain and ponders about that time and about that place.  Will it be gone forever?  Will she be the same?  And what of him, her lost love?

Then he appears almost out of nowhere amongst the crowd of spectators and reaches out to her.  But who is he and what are his intentions?  He reaches to her as his left eyebrow is lifted and responds with a touch on her shoulder.  As she turns around he responds “I am here my darling.”  The picture fades and the words ‘The End’ scroll across the screen.

Who is this mysterious man?
